Mark Teixeira was first drafted in 2001 by the Texas Rangers. Playing with the Rangers, Teixeira accomplished many things. He received a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Award (ESPN, 2012). He received a Gold Glove because he showed that he was the best first basemen in the American League. The Silver Slugger showed that he was the best hitting first basemen in the American League. He also was titled “Player of the Year”.
In 2007 he was traded to the Atlanta Braves, and was traded again in 2008 to the Los Angeles Angels (ESPN, 2012). In 2009 Teixeira agreed to sign with the New York Yankees. Mark Teixeira has been on the New York Yankees ever since. The switch hitter has won two Gold Gloves, a Silver Slugger and a World Series Championship playing with the New York Yankees.
